Cheltenham will be in focus next weekend for racing betting with three big days of top horse racing action. That’s because it is time for the return of the popular November Meeting at the famous course, which really sees the National Hunt season ramp up a few levels. This is an exhilarating meeting which runs from Friday 15th to Sunday 17th of November at the Home of Jump Racing.
Friday is Countryside Day at the venue which features two Grade 2 fixtures. The first of those is the Cheltenham Chase which has a stellar line-up for the 2024 renewal. The Nicky Henderson-trained Jonbon is the ante-post odds-on favourite for the victory, as the course and distance winner makes his annual renewal appearance against the likes of Alan King’s Edwardstone and Harry Fry’s Boothill.
The other big Group contest on Friday at Cheltenham is the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle. Among the ante-post betting leaders for that one are Valgrand, who is in red-hot form after recently completing a hat trick, and Gordon Elliott’s Sixo who is highly rated.
The action keeps going on Saturday, with the Arkle Challenge Trophy Trial Novices’ Chase on the cards. The Grade 2 race is open to 4-year-olds and above at a 2m distance. That’s a precursor to the big action for the day, the Paddy Power Gold Cup Handicap Chase.
This year’s renewal of the 2m 4f Gold Cup Handicap Chase contest has seen Ginny’s Destiny leading the ante-post racing betting market. The Paul Nicholls-trained 8-year-old is a previous course and distance winner and his big challengers in the Group 2 race which features 16 fences, are Imagine, Il Ridotto and Ga Law.
Sunday’s big feature race at Cheltenham is the Greatwood Handicap Hurdle. Dysart Enos, who has produced an unbeaten campaign is the ante-post leader for the contest, ahead of the likes of Burdett Road and Be Aware. The popular race features 8 hurdles at just over two miles. Across the Irish Sea, the annual renewal of the Troytown Handicap Chase (Grade 3) will go on Sunday, November 17th.
