Phil Mickelson has been at the forefront of major golf tournaments for almost 30 years, with ‘Lefty’ challenging for honours at almost every single event.
Having claimed a grand total of 45 PGA Tour events, including six major titles, Mickelson has been one of the leading figures in the sport throughout his career.
If you are big into golf betting odds, you’ll have seen Mickelson winning title after title, with Lefty enjoying a close rivalry with Tiger Woods during his peak years.
With three Masters titles, two PGA Championships and one Open Championship, Mickelson is just a US Open shy of a career Grand Slam.
The American has had to settle for second place on six occasions and, barring a performance akin to that at the 2021 PGA Championship, it is hard to envision Mickelson getting his hands on the trophy.
An iconic personality on the course, Mickelson has made the sport fun for the masses and young golfers now dream of donning the Masters Green Jacket because of his impact.
Here, we look at Phil Mickelson net worth estimates and career highlights. Is he richer than Tiger Woods or do Phil Mickelson wealth figures fall short? Scroll down to find out!
How Much Is Phil Mickelson Worth?
The total estimated Phil Mickelson net worth figure comes out at £300 million – a staggering sum of money to say the least.
Incredibly, Mickelson’s total career earnings top the £600 million mark. However, just £70 million of that is predicted to be from tournament prize money.
According to the financial estimates, Mickelson ranks as the second highest earning golfer in all-time career winnings – with only Tiger Woods earning more than Lefty.
Mickelson passed the legendary Vijay Singh in 2015 but Woods’ career earnings figure of £100 million looks a step too far for the 51-year-old.
Endorsement deals in golf are often lucrative and Mickelson is one of the most appealing and marketable figures in the sport.
With that in mind, it’s probably not surprising to hear that the likes of ExxonMobil, Rolex, Ford and Callaway have all entered financial partnerships with Mickelson over the years.
In addition, there are several long-term endorsement deals that ended a while ago but have enhanced Mickelson net worth figures – including Barclays and Enbrel.
In fact, his agreement with Barclays spanned 15 years but came to an end in 2016. In terms of endorsement deals, Mickelson continues to make huge sums of money and that will continue as long as he remains in the sport.
Family
Phil Mickelson met Amy McBride in 1992 during his time at Arizona State University. Amy was a junior on the cheerleader squad while Phil was a senior and the two hit it off.
Four years later, the pair got married and have since had three children together – Amanda Brynn, Sophia Isabel and Evan Samuel.
There were complications with Evan’s birth after Amy ruptured an artery but both thankfully pulled through and regained full health.
In 2009, Amy was diagnosed with breast cancer and Phil immediately put his career on hold to support her throughout the treatment.
After an 11-month battle, Amy beat the disease and has since been heavily involved in fund-raising events for breast cancer research.
The couple have raised money for several charities over the years and even set up their own foundation, the Phil and Amy Mickelson Foundation, to offer support to local families.
In 2019, The Mickelson Foundation became the host organisation of The American Express PGA Tour event and raised over £1 million for charities in the Coachella Valley region.
Other Business Ventures:
As well as earning money from his golf career and related endorsements, Mickelson has embraced the real estate market over the years – building up a solid housing portfolio.
Buying and selling houses has come naturally to Phil and Amy as time has gone on, with a number of mega money transactions relating to their real estate ventures.
In January 2020, Phil purchased an undeveloped lot in a highly sought after area of Florida for an undisclosed sum money.
Once complete, Phil and Amy will have several celebrity neighbours – including sporting rival Tiger Woods and legendary NBA star Michael Jordan.
If you follow golf betting tips, you’ll know all about the Mickelson-Woods rivalry and now there may be a real estate battle between two of the greatest golfers of all-time.
