Horse Betting Tips For Friday

Steve Mullington with his best racing tips, with a NAP, a NB and a Longshot running at Saint-Cloud, Bangor and Haydock...

2.25 Saint-Cloud – Coetzee (NAP)

Twitter racing legend and traveller Mike Parcej will be in attendance at Saint-Cloud on Friday afternoon and hopefully he will be there to witness the famous Tabor, Smith & Magnier colours landing the Listed Prix Turenne for the three-year-olds.

The Frankel-colt has performed with credit this season, winning a 3yo colts and gelding’s maiden over today’s distance back in March and then ran a respectable race in the Group 3 Prix du Lys after being hampered at a crucial stage.

Coetzee’s close third to Columbus at Deauville at the start of August has been further franked after that horse lifted the Group 3 Prix Gerald de Geoffre at Longchamp last weekend.

All in all, Coetzee looks like a strong bet on the French racecard on Friday afternoon.

Danger: Hawk Power

3.55 Bangor – Neigh Botha (NB)

Seven-year-old Neigh Botha can continue his good run of summer form by landing the 2m1½f Handicap Chase at Bangor-On-Dee.

Trained locally by Oliver Greenall & Josh Guerriero, Neigh Botha lifted a 2m Handicap Chase at Southwell in June and then followed that up with a third place at Worcester a month later.

He’s back today from a 50-day break and off just 11st 4lbs and with Toby Wynne claiming a further 3lb, he cannot be ignored at the foot of the handicap.

Danger: Malpas

3.45 Haydock – Lunar Let (E/W Longshot)

Veteran runner Lunar Jet has always run pretty well at Haydock Park when the word “soft” has been in the going description and he’s a decent each-way play again today.

A winner of 8 of his 70 career starts, the ten-year-old is winless since April 2023 but has put in some sterling performances in the meantime.

He’s actually 8/54 on his Flat Turf statistics alone which make him a very consistent horse to follow and he’s fairly well treated in the weights today.

Danger: Animato

Horse Betting Tips For Saturday

Steve Mullington with his best racing tips, with a NAP, a NB and a Longshot running at Haydock...

1.15 Haydock – Holloway Boy (NAP)

Karl Burke’s Holloway Boy looks like a winner waiting to happen in the Group 3 Superior Mile at Haydock on Saturday.

Frustratingly the four-year-old has only won once from his 13 starts thus far but this season he has been knocking on the door in some of the top handicaps around the country.

Fifth in the Royal Hunt Cup, he was just touched off in his next start at Sandown then was close once more in Goodwood’s Glorious Mile.

His last run was at the York Ebor meeting where again he was up there on the podium in the Clipper Handicap.

Also entered for the Cambridgeshire at the end of the month, I can see Holloway Boy picking up this prize on the way.

Danger: Regal Reality

2.35 Haydock – Hamish (NB)

Top rated Hamish should be too classy for his rivals on the polytrack today as he bids to land Group 2 September Stakes.

With an official rating of 117, his closest rivals are down on a mark of 108, which goes to show how much he has achieved for the Haggas yard down the seasons.

The eight-year-old has now won 11 of his 21 starts and Group 3 victories have become somewhat of his staple diet.

He’s also a previous winner of this contest so everything bodes well for yet another prominent showing.

3.35 Haydock – Art Power (E/W Longshot)

This horse cost me top place in last season’s Racing Post Naps Competition when somebody picked him out on the very last day at 40/1, so I don’t plan to miss out on him again.

Regarded by many as a soft ground performer, he’s actually pretty versatile ground wise as his second place in the Lennox Stakes this season proved.

He should never be a 20/1 shot and I think he’s good for a place at the very least in the Sprint Cup.

Danger: Spycatcher

Horse Betting Tips For Sunday

Steve Mullington with his best racing tips, with a NAP, a NB and a Longshot running at Longchamp and York...

2.50 Longchamp – Charyn (NAP)

There’s a plethora of Group action taking place at Longchamp on Sunday and Roger Varian’s Charyn looks well equipped to add the Group One Prix du Moulin to his already impeccable CV.

Nurlan Bizakov's Queen Anne Stakes and Prix Jacques le Marois hero has looked sublime in his races this season, winning four of his five outings and finishing second in the Lockinge.

His jockey Silvestre de Sousa is confident Charyn has all the attributes to come out on top in his Moulin showdown with Notable Speech and I am inclined to agree with him.

Danger: Tribalist

12.58 Longchamp – Meydaan (NB)

The Group 3 Prix du Prince d’Orange can go the way of the Crisford-trained Meydaan at the expense of Ombudsman.

Their horse ran a fine third behind future Group One performer Ambiente Friendly in the Lingfield Derby Trial before winning a Listed event at Goodwood in May.

He then finished a not-beaten-far fourth behind Leger hopeful Illinois in the Queen’s Vase before disappointing somewhat in the Gordon Stakes at Goodwood.

If he can bounce back to full fitness today then he holds a live chance of giving the Godolphin favourite a race.

Danger: Ombudsman

4.35 York – Roundhay Park (E/W Longshot)

A local Rochdale firm sponsor this six furlong handicap annually so I always take a keen interest in it just in case somebody messages me for a fancy on the day.

The fancy this year will be the Nigel Tinkler-trained Roundhay Park who has his beloved Faye McManoman on his back and goes for yet another course and distance victory.

I thought the nine-year-old ran well at Ripon in the Silver Trophy despite the undulating track and he will be much better suited to this York surface.

Danger: Muscika
