Football Predictions Monday

Newcastle United v West Ham United

The Premier League offers us some Monday night action as West Ham United make the long trip up north to face Newcastle United at St James’ Park. – Check out our Premier League odds.

It’s been a good few weeks for Newcastle United, the Magpies have put together three wins in all competitions against some good opponents in Chelsea, Arsenal and Nottingham Forest. Those last two victories both came in the Premier League and moved Eddie Howe’s side up to eighth, just one point off the top three. Another win here would see Newcastle win three league games on the bounce for the first time since September 2023 and could find themselves in the top four depending on results elsewhere over the weekend.

West Ham make the trip to Newcastle knowing their boss Julen Lopetegui is a man under real pressure, the Hammers have won just three of their first eleven games in the Premier League and sit in fourteenth place, just five points above the drop. It’s not the season that the Irons had expected and you feel the misery could continue on Monday evening as they’ve won just one of their last ten away games in all competitions.

I think we’re in for an entertaining game on Monday night, nine of the last ten meetings between these two sides have seen both teams find the back of the net, whilst seven of those ten have produced at least four goals.

Newcastle United will be looking to make up for missing out on European football this season.

Football Predictions Tuesday

FC Barcelona v Brest

FC Barcelona will return to UEFA Champions League action on Tuesday evening as they welcome French side Brest to the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys. – Check out our UEFA Champions League odds.

Barcelona returned from the international break with a tricky trip to Celta Vigo, things were looking good for Hansi Flick’s side after Lewandowski put them 2-0 up on the hour mark. However, Marc Casado picked up a second yellow card which left Barca playing the last ten minutes with just ten players, even then you’d have fancied them to see it out but two goals in two minutes from Celta Vigo meant it was two points dropped for Barcelona. After the game, Hansi Flick said his players only had themselves to blame and they were lucky to leave Vigo with one point, they are now winless in their last two but have a good chance to bounce back here on home soil.

UEFA Champions League debutants Brest have taken to this competition like a duck to water, the Pirates remain unbeaten in their first four games, with victories in three of them moving them into fourth place in this league phase. Like their opponents, Eric Roy’s side head to Spain winless in their last two games, both of which have come away from home. After their start to this campaign, Brest will be very happy with how things are going, whilst automatic qualification might still be a big ask, they are six points clear from twenty-fifth place with four games left to play.

Despite their good start, I think Barcelona will get the victory in this one and quite convincingly, they’ve scored a league-high fifteen goals in their first four games, I’m expecting more on Tuesday night. Here you can find all our latest UEFA Champions League football tips.

FC Barcelona will be looking to go all the way under Hansi Flick and claim their seventh UEFA Champions League.

Bayern Munich v Paris Saint-Germain

Tuesday night provides one of the standout ties from the UEFA Champions League this week, as Bayern Munich take on Paris Saint-Germain at the Allianz Arena.

Following their 4-1 defeat to Barcelona in this competition back in October, Vincent Kompany’s side have won all of their six games since and in style too, without conceding a single goal. However, having already lost two of their four games in the UCL, the Bavarians have some work to do if they are to finish in those eight automatic places, FC Bayern are currently seventeenth but there’s still hope given they are just three points off the top eight. The last time Bayern Munich lost on home soil in the UEFA Champions League came back in April 2021, against no other than PSG.

This is the one that the Parisians want to win but Luis Enrique’s side are really struggling in these early stages. Just one win in their first four games see’s PSG outside of those twenty-four qualification places with just four games left to play, it’s a real worry given they’ve still got to face Manchester City and travel to both Salzburg and Stuttgart, an early exit out of the group stage could be on the cards for the first time since the 2004/2005 campaign. I don’t think things will get much better here for PSG, they’ve lost five of their last eight games on the road in the UCL.

Bayern Munich are favourites on Tuesday night and I’ve got to agree, they’ve won five of their last six competitive games against PSG.

Vincent Kompany will want to ensure his side book their place in the next stage of this competition by finishing in the top eight.

Manchester City v Feyenoord

Manchester City will welcome Dutch side Feyenoord to the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday evening in the UEFA Champions League.

Manchester City had suffered four defeats in a row before the international break, the club announced that Pep Guardiola had signed a two-year extension to his contract in hope of deflecting a bit of the negativity surrounding the club. However, that didn’t help their cause on Saturday evening when Tottenham Hotspur rocked up to East Manchester and stick four past the current Premier League champions without reply. What seemed to be a little dip in form now looks to be quite concerning for Pep and co, his worst ever run as a manager but unbeaten in their last thirty-three UCL home games, this could be a good chance for City to stop the rot and edge closer to Barcelona’s UCL home record.

Feyenoord head to Manchester twenty-first in the UEFA Champions League, that would be enough to put the former European champions into the next stage but there’s still four games left to play and work to do. Brian Priske’s side suffered a shock defeat in their UCL outing against Salzburg but have put together back-to-back victories in the Eredivisie since then, De club aan de Maas tend to like life on the road, unbeaten in their ten away games across all competitions so far including victories in both of their UCL away games.

Despite Feyenoord’s success on the road and Manchester City’s recent form, I still feel that Pep Guardiola’s side will stop the rot in this one and edge closer to that UCL home record.

Will Manchester City be celebrating their second UEFA Champions League title in May?

Sporting v Arsenal

Arsenal will travel to Lisbon on Tuesday evening for this UEFA Champions League clash against Sporting.

Sporting have started life without Ruben Amorim in fine form, Joao Pereira is the man in charge now and his first game ended in a 6-0 victory against third-tier Amarante. Of course, this is the real test for his side but they’ve started really well in the UEFA Champions League, the Lions sit second in the UCL league phase after their first four games picking up ten points from a possible twelve, including that victory against Manchester City.

After three games without a victory, Arsenal wasted no time in getting back to winning ways after the international break, a 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest on Saturday was a much-needed win for the Gunners as they look to get themselves back into the title challenge. Mikel Arteta’s side head to Lisbon in twelfth with seven points, although they’ve only scored three goals so far and conceded just one, they sit at the bottom of the table in terms of average goals per games.

However, I feel like we will see goals in this one, whilst three of the last four meetings between these two sides have ended in a draw after ninety minutes, I’m going to back a score-draw here.

Sporting will be hoping to keep their fine form going without Ruben Amorim, can the Lions secure a place in the top eight?
