Centre forward Liam Delap is an England under-21 international from the Manchester City academy.
Delap left City to join Ipswich Town in 2024, where he has been a key player in the club’s first season back in the Premier League.
While far from a football betting favourite to win the Golden Boot, Delap has caught the eye with his performances.
Per year | €1,254,297.20 | £1,039,427 |

His availability is something to look out for if you’re weighing up The Tractor Boys’ live betting odds on a given weekend.
The son of a Premier League cult hero, Delap is bound to be suggested as a potential England striker in the near future if he maintains this level of performance.
How Much Is Liam Delap Worth?
Liam Delap net worth is likely below £5 million given the stage of his career. His father obviously earned plenty of cash in his playing days, but that won’t all have been passed onto the Ipswich Town striker.
Exact figures for Delap’s net worth are hard to come by. His financial situation has not received much coverage, though that is likely to change if his profile continues to rise.
Back in 2022, Delap announced ‘new season, new boots’ at the beginning of his partnership with adidas. Figures for the endorsement were not released.
Salary
Liam Delap, according to Spotrac, is on £20,000 per week. There are 477 Premier League players earning more than Delap in the 2024-25 season.
Ipswich have Delap tied down on a five-year contract. The deal will expire at the end of the 2028-29 season if he lasts that long at the club.
On his current trajectory, it’s very likely Delap will command a new deal or earn a move to a bigger club before then.
It’s a very low salary by Premier League standards, even if there are significant bonuses which could increase Delap’s annual income.
Transfer Fee
Ipswich paid Manchester City £15 million with up to £5 million in add-ons for Liam Delap. City also have a 20% sell-on clause.
When the signing was announced, Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna said, "We are delighted to bring Liam to the club.
"We think he is a player with the qualities to help the team this season but also to be an important player for the club for many years to come.
"He is a player with outstanding physical and technical attributes who has a hunger to come here and continue to learn and improve. He has gained good first-team experience from a young age and we feel he has the potential for development here."
Delap, who had been on loan with Stoke City, Preston North End, and Hull City over the last two seasons, relished the opportunity to play in the Premier League.
"I have heard so many good things about the feeling around the club, and how the players and staff work. That's exactly why I'm excited to be here.
"The Manager here likes to play exciting football. It's quick and intense and I am looking forward to that. I want to bring goals and assists and I'll work as hard as I can to help the team."
Ireland
Liam Delap’s father played for Ireland. Liam was born in Winchester, however, and has represented England at under-16, under-17, under-18, under-19, under-20, and under-21.
New FIFA eligibility rules have made it harder for Delap to switch to Ireland after representing England’s under-21s. Previously, appearances at youth levels did not impact senior eligibility.
Players now have a three-year cooling off period after an under-21 appearance before they can switch nations if they are aged 21 or older.
Delap has played for multiple games for England since turning 21. While Ipswich teammate Dara O’Shea would ‘love’ Delap to play for Ireland, it seems unlikely given his recent call-ups to the England under-21s.
Former Ireland international Shay Given urged the FAI to pick Delap, "If I was the new manager, I would be getting all these players on board. Liam Delap is quick, he’s powerful, and he’s a good finisher…
"England are sort of scouring the world for players. We’re a smaller nation, we have to do the same thing. Get these players on board and get them capped, like Liam Delap, and strengthen the squad."
Boots
Liam Delap started wearing adidas boots at the beginning of the 2022-23 season.
Delap has preferred to wear the F50 Elites, which are also worn by Lamine Yamal, Ryan Gravenberch, Joao Pedro, and numerous other big names.
Father
Liam Delap is the son of former Premier League midfielder Rory Delap. A hard-working journeyman, Rory is best-known for his bullet throw-ins which were synonymous with Tony Pulis-era Stoke City.
Rory’s throws are remembered infamously by Premier League fans around the world.
He also played for Carlisle, Derby, Southampton, Sunderland, and Burton Albion, and recorded 11 caps for Ireland. He made the most appearances for the Potters, however, and made his name at the Britannia Stadium.
Liam spoke to the Soccer Bible about growing up as his Dad was plying his trade in the Premier League.
"Obviously watching it, going to so many games, even though I wasn’t playing, I used to get such a buzz from seeing him (his dad) do well.
"It was a warming feeling and I just wanted that feeling for myself. Watching my dad go through everything he has gone through, I’ve seen how hard you have to work to make it at the top.
"Having that environment and experience around me helped me stay determined – it showed me what I have to do to make it.
"Football has always been my number one sport, it’s always been around me and I’ve been lucky to see all sides of it.
"All my friends love it, all my family love it and it’s really been a sport that’s taken priority over everything. It’s the thing I enjoy doing most and it brings me so much joy as well."
