Former NFL player Jason Bell has told 888sport that he doesn’t believe either of the Philadelphia Eagles or San Francisco 49ers will be able to keep their unbeaten records intact for the whole season.
Speaking to 888sport, Bell said: “I can’t see either of the Philadelphia Eagles or the San Francisco 49ers going unbeaten this season. It is so hard in the NFL to be on it every single week and for everything to go your way, that’s why we love the playoffs – anything can happen.
“I don’t expect them to go undefeated but I expected them to go out fighting every week, but at some point they will have a game where not everything works out and they have to recognise that they have to adjust something. The Eagles have the perfect man to adjust things when they go wrong. Kyle Shanahan is a great coach and his play calling is fantastic – he’s so creative.
“As a player, I always used to see coaches change their tone after a loss. If you’re on a winning streak and you’re making mistakes then they don’t coach you the same way, but after a loss they’re really fired up for you to fix things that might have been wrong the whole time.
Too Early To Judge Purdy
Speaking on Brock Purdy, Bell was hesitant to be overly critical or positive about the young quarterback, stating that it is too early to start properly judging him.
“It’s hard to say where Brock Purdy ranks amongst the others in the league because we haven’t seen him for an entire calendar year and he hasn’t played 17 regular season games in a single NFL season yet,” he said. “We’re still watching him to see what he truly is and see how defences really react to him.
“I don’t think you can specifically label him a system quarterback because all quarterbacks are system players in some sense. They either are the system, or the system works for them. Purdy works for this system and it is a great situation for him. He plays the kind of game that Shanahan wants played so it works out well, and that’s why they drafted him.
“At some point teams are going to know exactly what he does well, and they’re going to take that away. The best quarterbacks will adjust and do something else well, then as a defence you’re just guessing. Pressuring makes him makes him very uncomfortable but he hasn’t really been pressured this season.”
CJ Stroud The Most Impressive Rookie
Continuing on the topic of exciting quarterbacks who have impacted NFL betting odds this year, Bell labelled CJ Stroud as the rookie he has been most impressed with so far.
“CJ Stroud is the rookie that I have been most impressed with,” said Bell. I like what the Texans are doing as a team and their head coach is amazing, and CJ Stroud fits in perfectly. By the way he’s playing they’re showing that they have a lot of confidence in him. They’re letting him throw the ball around and he’s taking advantage of that opportunity.”
“The moment isn’t too big for him and his skillset is filled with accuracy. Every throw has a nice spiral and it’s things like that you want to see. As a franchise they can identify quickly that they have chosen right.”
Taylor Swift Is Only A Distraction If The Chiefs Start To Lose
Taylor Swift is still dominating the NFL headlines, and Jason Bell addressed the situation stating that he doesn’t believe it is a bad thing, but will only turn negative if the Chiefs form starts to suffer.
Bell said: “I don’t think the whole Taylor Swift situation is bad at all. The NFL never disappoints and you always need a storyline every season. You take what comes and you don’t try to create stories they just appear, and this one just appeared.
“They inherit the fanbase who are now all watching someone who is one of the best in the world at what he does because he is dating someone that they idolise in Taylor Swift. There are now all these new eyes watching Travis Kelce, and it won’t disappoint because he is a great player.
“Sometimes it can be difficult for individuals because during the season you are trying to keep the outside noise at bay,” he continued. “You want to stay focused and keep everything under control, and this is something that is creating a lot of noise.
“I think Travis Kelce will be wanting to draw the focus away from his relationship, but it’s too late for that. No one within the team will want anything to be talked about except football. This is something they’re going to have to manage and take care of. It only becomes a distraction if they don’t play well.”
