Bayern Munich and England star Georgia Stanway is one of the best attacking midfielders in world football.
Born in Barrow-in-Furness, Stanway debuted for England in 2018, and was integral in their triumphant Euros campaign in 2022.
At club level, Stanway was shifted around the pitch by Manchester City, filling at full back or in wide-midfield roles, but she’s at her best when able to operate in between the lines and bypass the press with mazy dribbling and sharp passes.
A creator and goal scorer, Stanway can unlock even the most stubborn of defences, which she has repeatedly shown throughout her career.
An excellent technician, Stanway is capable of turning any sports betting occasion on its head in an instant.
While still with potentially decade left at the top, Stanway is well on course to being recognised as one of the greatest ever English players.
How Much Is Georgia Stanway Worth?
Estimations for Georgia Stanway net worth come in between £1 million and £3 million.
Outside of the highest-paid players in the world, salary figures for women’s football are very hard to come by. As a result, net worth numbers are guesstimates rather than anything more precise.
Stanway, though, has played for two of the wealthiest and strongest clubs in world football in Manchester City and Bayern Munich.
he is bound to have enjoyed a decent wage along with several endorsement opportunities.
Who Is Georgia Stanway's Partner?
Georgia Stanway is in a relationship with Olly Ashall-Bott, a rugby league player for Toulouse Olympique. The couple have reportedly been together since 2018, and reside in Cheshire.
Speaking about their relationship, Stanway said, “We’re enjoying each other’s company, we’re still young and just loving life. I’ve got trophies that I want to lift before I lift any children up."
With their schedules often clashing Ashall-Bott doesn’t get to see Stanway play very often, but he made the trip over for the Euros final in 2022.
After the match, the Toulouse full-back said, “I hadn’t caught an England game before because our fixtures didn’t align.
“When I was playing, she was playing. But we had the weekend off and Sylvain Houles let me go – I don’t think he could have said no.
“And what a game to go see! They got the job done in front of a full stadium. I was buzzing and so happy for her and the team.
“It sounds weird but it feels like I played in it myself. Because we’re so close, I think I got the same feeling as her – maybe not quite as much but I still feel like I won as well.
“And sharing moments like that with her is just incredible for me. There’s a video of me on TV giving her a hug at Wembley, memories like that you never forget.
“I got to go to the after-match party and see all the girls – I know most of them because I’ve been with Georgia for a long time.
“I’m not going to say too much because she’ll get big-headed but she knows how proud I am of her.”
Georgia Stanway Goal vs Spain
With the teams knotted at 1-1, England and Spain went to extra time in the Euro 2022 quarter finals.
Lioness fans and those betting on football were suffering from the nerves of knockout football until Georgia Stanway had the moment of her career.
Dribbling towards Spain’s box, Stanway was left open. Able to carry the ball from just outside the centre circle, Spain’s defenders were backtracking, leaving Stanway with an opportunity to strike from range.
Getting to around 22 yards from goal, she unleashed a right-footed thunderbolt into the far corner, sending England into the semis.
“Unreal. That just shows the level that we’re at. We get a setback and we come back and do it. We put in a massive shift. Job done and we’ll focus on the semis”, Stanway said.
“I wasn’t too sure (if the shot was going in). It’s one to be proud of. I’ll remember today. We put in a massive shift. We just have to enjoy this moment and crack on.”
Why Did Georgia Stanway Join Bayern Munich?
After almost a decade with Manchester City, Georgia Stanway swapped the north west of England for Bavaria in 2022. Used in different positions by City, Stanway decided to leave the club before the Euros.
Stanway explained her decision, "I was at City for seven, nearly eight years, from the age of 16 to 23.
"I'd played nearly 200 games, won seven trophies and left as the club's all-time leading goalscorer. But I felt like for the last 18 months I had plateaued.
"I was being asked to fill in different positions, like at left-back. And while I'm happy to do a job, I didn't feel like I was getting any better or going anywhere.
"They offered me a contract very, very late and it wasn't the way I wanted it to end. So I just questioned myself and thought: 'Well, if not now then when?
"When is the right time to go abroad? When is the right time to take the next step?'"
The decision to move to Bayern has immediately reaped rewards. A Frauen-Bundesliga title in her first season is just the start for Stanway, who has long been interested in the German game.
"Coming through the youth teams with England, the only team that regularly beat us was Germany - and that stood out to me. So I studied the men's and women's national teams closely, watching as many games as I could.
"Germany were the team that everybody was scared to play against and that fascinated me; I thought - why is that?
"I now know most of the girls and they're all soft and very lovely people, but at the same time, why were they perceived as having a hard shell? As hard to crack?"
The combativeness, the general physicality of German football, is something Stanway relishes.
"It's because they play in a way that makes you not want to play against them, and I like it when people don't want to play against me.
"So it's a team - and a league - that appreciates the hard graft, the physicality, the robustness, but at the same time being able to match it with the tactical and the technical aspects. For me, that's pretty amazing.
"So when Bayern approached me, I knew they were right for me. I like to create catalyst moments by winning the ball back. They play nice football too but here I can do the dirty work. They really appreciate that side of my game and that really suits me."
Stanway isn’t the only England international flourishing on the continent.
Fellow Lionesses Keira Walsh and Lucy Bronze are plying their trade for Barcelona, while others are bound to attract interest from Europe’s superpowers in the coming seasons.
