Many of these guys were heavily backed in football betting among the betting stakes. Here is more detail about each player:

CLIVE ALLEN

Predatory striker Clive played 157 matches in two spells for QPR and bulged the net 83 times.

His most crucial goal for us came amidst a 1-0 win over West Bromwich Albion in the 1982 FA Cup Semi-Final staged at Highbury Stadium.

He also scored when we beat Crystal Palace 1-0 at Loftus Road in the Quarter-Final during that Cup run and celebrated by running the full length of the pitch!

DAVID BARDSLEY

A cultured overlapping right-back, Bardsley made 295 appearances for Rangers and scored five times.

Nowadays runs a football academy in America.

STAN BOWLES

Bowles wore the number 10 shirt with distinction and completed 315 appearances for Rangers scoring 96 times.

His tally of 11 goals in our 1976/77 UEFA Cup run to the Quarter-Finals was a record for any British player in European competitions at that juncture.

DAVE CLEMENT

An athletic right-back. He mustered 476 first team appearances for us, scoring 28 goals.

Clement was an integral component in the great Rangers side that finished runners-up by a point to Liverpool in the 1975/76 League title race.

Tragically took his own life at the age of 34 in March 1982 when suffering from depression after believing his football career was finished due to a broken leg.

TERRY FENWICK

The most capped England player in the history of Queens Park Rangers. Expertly operating in defence and midfield, Fenwick won the first 19 of his 20 England caps as a QPR star.

His most crucial R’s impact came in the 1982 FA Cup Final when he supplied a late headed equaliser against Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley Stadium.

This led to a typical Statto-esque observation from John Motson in the BBC TV commentary box: “…And Terry Fenwick has become the first full-back to score from open play in a Cup Final…”

LES FERDINAND

A rampaging centre-forward. He scored on his international debut versus San Marino at Wembley in February 1993.

Ferdinand made 183 appearances in QPR colours racking up 90 goals.

GERRY FRANCIS

A dynamic midfielder who was selected as England captain while on the books at Loftus Road. Francis appeared 352 times in two spells for us – mostly as skipper - and scored 65 goals.

He was a pivotal cog in the best ever QPR team of 1975/76.

IAN GILLARD

A refined left-back gracing our 1975/76 team. Gillard made 484 appearances for Rangers, scoring 11 times.

JOHN GREGORY

An elegant attacking midfield man. He played 190 times for the R’s and scored 43 goals.

One of his most dramatic efforts was hitting the crossbar with a lobbed volley in the 1982 FA Cup Final Replay against Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley Stadium.

EVELYN LINTOTT

QPR’s first ever England international. A left-half, he won three full caps in 1908 when we were a Southern League club.

During the First World War, he joined the British Army and became a lieutenant in the West Yorkshire Regiment.

Sadly, Lintott was killed in action on the first day of the notorious Battle of the Somme on 1st July 1916.

RODNEY MARSH

Scored 134 goals in 242 matches for us. He made the number 10 hooped shirt famous and won the first of his nine England caps as a Queens Park Rangers star.

Marsh’s goal haul embraced 44 throughout our glorious 1966/67 Division Three title and League Cup double-winning campaign…30 in the League, three in the FA Cup and 11 in the League Cup.

This is by far the all-time R’s scoring record by one player in a season - the most celebrated strike being a wonderful solo effort against West Bromwich Albion in the 1967 League Cup Final at Wembley Stadium.

PAUL PARKER

He made 160 immaculate appearances in a hooped shirt at right-back, centre-half and sweeper.

Parker played in a World Cup Semi-Final as a QPR employee – facing the Germans at Italia ’90.

PHIL PARKES

Parkes notched up 406 appearances for the R’s and was one of the stars of our wonderful 1975/76 team.

A world record goalkeeper transfer fee of £565,000 took him to West Ham United in February 1979.

DAVID SEAMAN

Seaman won the first three of his 75 full England goalkeeper caps whilst on QPR’s books. He joined us from Birmingham City in August 1986 for £225,000.

Seaman famously saved four spot kicks out of five for Queens Park Rangers in a Simod Cup tie penalty shoot-out win away to Watford in February 1989.

Made 175 appearances for the R’s ahead of a £1.3 million move to Arsenal in July 1990.

ANDY SINTON

Left winger Sinton amassed 190 appearances for the R’s and scored 25 goals – including a sizzling shot as Rangers drew 1-1 at Manchester City in the historic first live televised game when the new Premier League was launched in 1992/93.

Is now the QPR club ambassador.

DAVE THOMAS

A flying winger who featured in our marvellous Hoops team of the mid-1970’s, making 220 appearances for the R’s and scoring 34 times.
