Boxing fans will have the date in the diary already and the IBF title is on the line, further whetting the appetite for Joshua's latest test. Dubois is no slouch, with a professional record of 21-2 and 20 of those victories coming by way of knockout.
Like Joshua, Dubois fell short against Usyk and had previously suffered a shock defeat to Joe Joyce with the vacant European heavyweight title on the line. However, his boxing skills have improved significantly since that loss in 2020.
Having said that, it is likely that odds for Anthony Joshua's next fight will be short for the former Olympic champion to prevail. A few months out and the latest boxing betting predictions have Joshua at 1/5 to regain the world title.
What Happened In Anthony Joshua's Last Fight?
AJ sent out a huge statement to the rest of the boxing world with a second round knockout against UFC fighter-turned-boxer Francis Ngannou on 8th March 2024.
This was significant as Tyson Fury, regarded by many at the time as the greatest heavyweight on the planet, was put under real pressure by Ngannou and he even knocked the British fighter down in the third round of the bout.
Fury was awarded a controversial success but Ngannou had won critics over and many believed that he could get the better of Joshua but the outcome was never in doubt. It was much more like it from the Watford fighter and Anthony Joshua's next fight could see him regain a world title on British soil.
September's fight with Dubois will be Joshua's first boxing bout in the United Kingdom since his victory over Robert Helenius at the O2 Arena, London in August 2023. His last two fights - the win over Francis Ngannou and an earlier clash with Otto Wallin - took place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
What Happened In Daniel Dubois Last Fight?
Daniel Dubois fought Filip Hrgovic in Saudi Arabia on 1st June 2024, with the British fighter putting the IBF top ranked contender firmly in his place - eventually securing an eighth round victory.
While this fight was on the undercard of Deontay Wilder's bout with Zhilei Zhang, it was actually the greater spectacle and Dubois firmly cemented his status as one of the elite heavyweights on the planet.
With Usyk giving up the IBF title due to his contractual commitments to a rematch with Tyson Fury, Dubois became the vacant IBF world heavyweight champion and he'll hope to retain the belt in September.
