Despite being a consensus top-15 quarterback of all-time, Aaron Rodgers splits opinion.

His postseason record is underwhelming for his talent level, and away from the gridiron, he has become an increasingly controversial figure the longer he has been in the public eye. 

Like Tom Brady, Drew Brees, and other all-time greats, Rodgers has remained a favourite for MVP in NFL odds deep into his thirties.

His teams are invariably a short online betting price to win their division, but Rodgers has not always been able to convert that into a deep postseason run.

Pro Football Network reports Aaron Rodgers has a net worth of approximately £180 million. Over The Cap has Rodgers as the player with the highest career earnings in NFL history ahead of Matthew Stafford, Tom Brady, and Matt Ryan. 

Alongside his record-breaking playing income, Rodgers has had numerous endorsement deals which will have been lucrative. Adidas, TaylorMade Golf, and Zenin Watches are just three of the companies Rodgers is partnered with.

His outspoken nature doesn’t seem to have hurt his marketability too significantly, although some companies may well be cautious about working with him. 

Aaron Rodgers Salary & Contract

Aaron Rodgers is currently in the middle of a three-year contract with an average annual salary of just under £30 million.

Rodgers’ average annual salary is tied with Derek Carr and slightly more than Justin Jefferson. There are, however, 16 players earning more than Rodgers, including Daniel Jones, Deshaun Watson, and Tua Tagovailoa.

The complexities of the NFL salary cap mean Rodgers’ salary for the 2024 season is only £2.47 million, while the former Green Bay Packer is also receiving a £27.4 million signing bonus. For the Jets, however, Rodgers does carry a cap hit of over £13 million. 

Even into the twilight years of his Hall of Fame career, Rodgers received $75 million guaranteed on his latest contract.

This is 20th-biggest guarantee at the time of signing a contract among current NFL deals, and more than Tyreek Hill, A.J. Brown, and Matthew Stafford. 

Does Aaron Rodgers Have A Girlfriend?

Aaron Rodgers’ most recent girlfriend was Mallory Edens, daughter of Milwaukee Bucks co-owner Wes Edens.

Rodgers is a minority owner of the Bucks and was spotted on several dates with Edens in 2023 and the early part of 2024.

The New York Jets quarterback has previously been in relationships with Olivia Munn, Kelly Rohrbach, Danica Patrick, and Shailene Woodley. The relationship with Woodley was the most high-profile, with the couple moving quickly to live together and get engaged.

Early in 2022, the wedding was called off as Rodgers and Woodley went their separate ways. 

Injury Problems

Aaron Rodgers ruptured his Achilles tendon after four offensive snaps of his New York Jets debut in 2023. Sacked by Bills star Leonard Floyd, Rodgers was on the floor in agony and had to be helped off the field. It was clear from the moment of the injury that he would not be able to return.

While the public comments from Rodgers were laced with competitive spirit and a desire to return quicker than anyone from an injury of this severity, he admitted in a podcast in the spring of 2024 that he wondered if this would end his career.

After all, he was 39 years old at the time, and Achilles ruptures have derailed careers of plenty of players at their physical peaks. 

Speaking on the “I Can Fly” podcast, the future Hall of Famer said, "I was really thinking, 'This is it. You don't come back from this injury’”. 

"I had this incredible offseason experience in a new city, a new town, with new teammates, a new organization, an owner for the first time, and really falling back in love with the game that I first fell in love with when I was 5 years old. It was absolutely beautiful and special and deep and rich and yummy, and just incredible.

"And then, one of the most heartbreaking nights of my life, when I played four plays. Talk about an ego death."

Rodgers continued, and described the people who helped his rehab as ‘incredible angels’. 

Move To The New York Jets

After several years of trade rumours, the Green Bay Packers finally dealt Aaron Rodgers in the 2023 offseason.

The New York Jets sent first, second, and sixth-round picks in the 2023 Draft along with a 2024 second rounder to acquire Rodgers, the 15th overall pick in the 2023 Draft, and a 2023 fifth-round selection. 

Four snaps into his debut in a Monday Night Football showdown with the Buffalo Bills, Rodgers was sacked and went down in visible pain.

Helped off the field, replays showed a clear snap in his lower calf. It was confirmed the following day that he had ruptured his Achilles tendon, ending his first campaign with the Jets before it could even get started.

It was always far-fetched Rodgers would return in the 2023-24 season even if the Jets were in the playoff mix. He was officially ruled out when the Jets were eliminated from postseason contention. 

That is surely for the best. It has allowed Rodgers to spend an offseason really getting ready for the 2024 season.

He said, "I'm excited about playing again. I love playing. I fell back in love with the game and then I had it taken away after four plays. I miss being out there, I love competing.

"Football is my happy place. That's where I feel most in control of my athletic ability. I missed that last year, I really, really missed it.

"My heart was broken. I'm excited about taking the field one more time and -- not life or death -- going to battle with my guys."
